Dance Artists Networking Event

The networking events is aimed at dance artists living and/or working in the North West. We welcome artists from any dance background with or without professional training who are currently working (paid or unpaid) within the dance industry.

We aim to provide a space for dance artists to connect and share their practice, while identifying gaps within the local industry. We would like to find out in which areas the local industry is in need of support or change. The day will include complimentary refreshments.

When? 7th of October 2023 from 1pm – 4pm

  • Getting to know each other
  • Networking Lunch (Hot Lunch provided)
  • Brainstorming workshop on the local industry

This is not an application process but we have to restrict numbers due to budget constraints. We will be sending out confirmation emails on a first come first serve basis.

Networking application

Access information:
The MET is physically accessible via a wide metal ramp. The space is flat and we will have tables and chairs within the space. 
The event will be in a relaxed environment and we will provide post it notes as a alternative way of communicating ideas during group discussions. Due to the location and architecture of the MET there may be external sounds and internal sounds. Please feel free to bring headphones, fidget toys, blankets or whatever else you need to make the session comfortable for you.

North West Dance Artists Scratch Night

The Scratch night is aimed at dance artists living and/or working in the North West. We welcome artists from any dance background with or without professional training who want to trial a performance idea/piece in front of a public audience.

We aim to provide a space for 5 local dance artists to share their performance practice to a dance accustomed audience and the general public. You can apply as an individual or group. 

When? 7th of October 2023 from 5:30-7:30pm
Where? Mobile Event Tent, University Square, University of Central Lancashire, Preston
What?

  • 20 minutes to share performance idea and movement material (please let us know below if you want less or more time and we will try to accommodate this)
  • Opportunity to ask for feedback on the idea and movement material

You will receive £100 bursary for sharing your material and to support the further development of your idea. This is per performance slot not per person.
If successful you will have to provide your UTR number and send a invoice after the event. 

Technical space information:
The performance space is roughly 6m by 6m.

Audio: 
A sound system and microphone is available if required.

Available Lighting: 
LED Parcans, LED Washes and LED Moving Heads

Scratch Night Application
We will ‘choose’ participants by using a random number generator. This is to ensure a fair and unbiased application process.
